● QUESTIONS WE HEAR A LOT
What You Might Be Wondering
-
Yes. Acupuncture supports fertility by calming the nervous system, improving blood flow to the reproductive organs, and helping regulate stress, sleep, and menstrual patterns. Many patients say they feel more relaxed, steady, and supported during what can be an emotional process. This greater sense of balance not only improves quality of life, but also creates the conditions where conception and pregnancy feel more possible.
-
If trying naturally, starting 2–3 months before you hope to conceive lets us observe a few cycles and build consistency. For IUI/IVF, begin 6–8 weeks before your cycle if possible. Common touchpoints include: pre-stim prep, during stimulation, the day before/of retrieval, the day of transfer, and again within a few days after. For sperm support, plan at least one full spermatogenesis window (about 10–12 weeks).
-
Most people do weekly sessions while trying to conceive. During high-stakes weeks (stims, retrieval, transfer), we may add one or two extra visits. Expect an initial 8–12-week plan, then we reassess based on cycle changes, stress, sleep, and how you’re feeling. The goal is steady, sustainable support rather than “more is better.”
-
Yes, when performed by a licensed practitioner trained in reproductive care. We adjust point selection after ovulation or transfer, throughout pregnancy, and select points that are safe and supportive for each stage.
-
Your first appointment begins with a detailed intake—health history, cycle tracking, stress, sleep, digestion, and personal goals—followed by a gentle, restorative treatment. You may feel warmth, heaviness, or a brief dull ache that fades quickly. Together, we’ll create a personalized plan, review timing around ovulation, IUI, or IVF, and share simple at-home support such as hydration, restful sleep, light movement, and safe acupressure.
-
Some plans do — but it varies. We’re in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield and AllWays/Mass General Brigham, and we can help verify your coverage. If you have another provider, we can provide a superbill for reimbursement and guide you through the process so it’s quick and stress-free. Click here to check if your insurance covers acupuncture.
